We are a week into 2021! It's not too late to start thinking about goals and intentions for the new year--or for the time being, if you're reading this later in the year. Setting a goal the right way can help you accomplish it! In this blog post, I present a goal-brainstorming worksheet adapted from the work of Russ Harris, an Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapist and author. Setting your goals as SMART goals can pave the way to making them achievable. The acronym may stand for Specific, Measurable, Adaptive, Realistic, and Timely. The reason I say may, is because the internet has provided a few different versions of this worksheet.  It all depends on the area of life your goals are in.  We want to focus on short term goals that are measurable and attainable in our worksheet. What does this have to do with mindfulness, you ask?

A tool of ACT therapy is to connect with our selves in the moment and align our values with our goals and actions. ACT uses mindfulness techniques to take you to a more fulfilled life.

In short, use this worksheet to help you set a specifically defined and functional goal that has measurable success, aligns with your values, and with which you have the resources to achieve in a designated time frame.
